Technology Post-iPhone in Europe

Steve Jobs and Apple introduced their famous iPhone to the European market. It will be availble in Britain, Spain, Germany and France begining in November. Some critics are disapointed that the iPhone for Europe is the same one being sold in the United States. This means some of the complaints and bugs have not been fixed. Another problem British consumers might face another problem since the network configurations are different.

The iPhone’s popularity in the United States has been huge since its’ opening this summer. Apple hopes it can repeat its’ success in Europe.

The iPhone gives users the ability to search the internet, watch movies on Youtube.com, search popular networking sites such as facebook.com and myspace.com, find directions, check emails, and of course call & text message others.

Library Tour

On September 11th our class took a tour of Randall Library. We saw both upstairs and downstairs which include books, reference, library archives, periodicals, and government documents. What was new to me was the binded periodicals. I found this very interesting because the library had almost every respectable magazine from Time and all the way to something less serious like Sports Illustrated. The Sports Illustrated  interested me the most because I am a sports fan but also an aspiring sports journalist. The collection of SI ranges from first issues of the 1960s to issues from this past summer. I know that when I start writing sports articles that if I need to research I know where to go to find a lot of information.

Media Ownership

During the September 4th class we talked about media ownership. I knew that a lot the media companies such as Fox, ABC, CBS, and NBC were owned by major corporations, but what I did not know was that they had intrests other properties like energy and power. This made me wonder if a lot of the information the major news corporations give us are altered to a lot or if it is more of just a conspiracy theory made up by smaller companies that wish they had the same influence on the nation, and at the same time if I were a CEO I would also like to gain as many assets as I could since that is one of the main goals of business is to be successful.
